Attorney General CLE Offerings
To assist our attorneys in completing their mandatory 15 hours of continuing legal education each year (including three hours of ethics), the Attorney General's Office offers various CLE programs throughout the year. These programs are open to other attorneys employed in State government on a space available basis. Upcoming programs include:
The Care and Feeding of Experts (05/03/12)
Why you should attend:
- Attorneys Alan Baskin and Bill Richards, joined by experts Peter Davis and David Perry, will explore through a roundtable discussion the fundamentals of selection, communication with, preparation of, and examination of expert witnesses. The objective of the seminar is to acquaint participants with strategies for the effective employment of expert testimony in support of a trial theme and to highlight common pitfalls that can undermine expert credibility endanger the admissibility of their testimony, and needlessly increase client expenses.
Credit Hours:
- May qualify for up to 3.0 hours of CLE Credit
Location:
- Capital Center Building, 15 S. 15th Ave., Phoenix Basement Conference Rooms A & B
- *Also available in the Tucson office via video conference

Being a Happy Warrior: Ethics & Civility in Litigation (05/30/12)
Why you should attend:
- Have you wondered why the legal profession has such a poor public image, and why there are so many jokes at our expense? Has your opposing counsel ever refused to grant a reasonable request for extension? Misrepresented something you said? Impugned your integrity or ethics? Yelled at you? Called you a name? Verbally or physically threatened you? Using real world examples of lawyers behaving badly, this program will examine the importance of ethics, civility and professionalism in litigation. A panel of former Maricopa County Superior Court judges will share “judicial war stories,” and discuss how uncivil behavior impacted the court, the case, and the parties.
Credit Hours:
- May qualify for up to 1.5 hours of Ethics CLE Credit
Location:
- Capital Center Building, 15 S. 15th Ave., Phoenix Basement Conference Rooms A & B

When Lawyers (or Clients or Judges) Attack (06/05/12)
